Rising Stars Progression Frameworks

Rising Stars Assessment Progression Frameworks help teachers to identify gaps in children’s learning across the curriculum. Developed by assessment experts, the Rising Stars Assessment Progression Frameworks break down the curriculum into individual statements with “what to look for” guidance to help teachers, help to identify gaps in children’s knowledge and understanding.

The framework guidelines are developed under subject headers as:

  • English (includes statements for both reading and writing)
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Computing
  • Geography
  • History

Each teacher-student is helped with the progression mapping notes on “what to look for” to identify whether children are “working towards expectations”, “meeting expectations”, or “exceeding expectations”. At Grammar School, we emphasise on the four basic teaching requirements, which apply across all subjects.

Teachers should:

  • use language effectively
  • use information and communication technology (ICT) effectively
  • follow health and safety guidelines
  • provide teaching that includes different ethnic minority viewpoints

Mandatory Regulations:

As per the rules and regulations in the UAE, it is mandatory for:

  1. All Muslim students (registered at the school with an Arab passport) to study Islamic Education for Arabs (Islamic-A) from Grade 1 to Year 11 inclusive.
  2. All non-muslim students (registered at the school with an non-Arab passport) to study Islamic Education for non-Arabs (Islamic-B) from Grade 1 to Year 11 inclusive.
  3. All Arab students (registered at the school with an Arab passport) to study Arabic as a first language (Arabic-A) from Year 1 to Year 11 inclusive.
  4. All students registered at the school with a non-Arab passport to study Arabic as an additional language (Arabic-B) from Year 1 to Year 9 inclusive.
